Pomegranate juice and aril processors opening fruit for pressing or aril extraction. For the full fresh-produce range, see the fruit and vegetable processing hub.
The compact unit handles 500 fruits per hour at 0.55 kW for farm shops and juice bars. The standard runs 1,200 fruits per hour at 1.5 kW for juice plants, and the industrial 2,000 per hour at 2.2 kW for extraction operations. Recovery runs about 95% of arils with under 3% broken seeds.
97% or better stay whole. The impact rollers are soft rubber tuned to the rupture strength of arils, so the degranulation action breaks the fruit open without bursting the sacs. That tuning is what separates a purpose-built machine from improvised solutions. Soft-seeded varieties run at reduced roller pressure for the same result.
Yes, whole fruit goes through a matching pomegranate splitter first, and some industrial configurations include the splitter inline. Without halving, the machine cannot open the fruit reliably. Sequence the splitter, the extractor, and then pressing or packing, and we confirm the chain when you tell us the end product: juice, fresh arils, or both.
Under 0.5%. Membrane is lighter than arils, so an air-knife separator floats it off the stream after extraction. A quick visual check at discharge confirms separation is holding. If membrane creeps up, it usually means fruit variety changed and the roller gap needs a re-set, which is a panel-level adjustment.
Fresh arils hold 7 to 10 days refrigerated, so retail packing is viable, and freezing covers longer storage. Juice operations run the extractor into a screw press, then pasteurizer, then filler, and the industrial configuration is built to chain those stages.
