Beverage packers shrink-wrapping bottles into multipacks and bundling for pallets. For the full range, see the processing hub.
POF polyolefin is the default for retail multipacks: clear, strong, food-contact friendly. PVC is the budget choice with a more brittle feel and fume considerations in the tunnel; PE is the heavy gauge option for transit bundling and trays. Your shelf decides: retail-ready leans POF, pallet work leans PE.
Tunnel temperature runs 140-200°C set by film type, and the balance takes a few test packs: too cool and the film stays wrinkled, too hot and it burns through or distorts the bottles. Once set per film and pack, the settings store as a recipe. Start from our baseline table, then adjust per product.
Standard collations run 2×3, 3×4, 6-pack, and 12-pack on quick-change guides, plus pad and full-wrap tray modes for heavier or retail-ready packs. Speeds run 10 packs per minute manual feed, 30 auto-feed side-seal, and 60 continuous with tray erector. Match the speed to filler and labeler output so packs queue rather than starve.
Overlap adjusts from 10 to 30 mm for a secure seal. Too little and the seam opens somewhere in distribution; too much and every pack carries wasted film, which adds up quickly at 60 packs a minute. Correct overlap plus tuned tunnel temperature is what makes a pack that arrives intact.
On the L-sealer, the sealing blade needs monthly sharpening under steady use, and tunnel bearings get a quarterly check. Blades are the consumable: dull blades produce weak seals and film tears long before they fail outright. Keep a spare blade and a roll of each film on the shelf.
