FAQ

Direct injection heats in a fraction of a second, which is gentler on flavor and color; indirect heating through plate exchangers is simpler and cheaper to run. Indirect suits most mid-scale plants, while direct earns its cost where flavor is the selling point, typically premium drinking milk. Both run at 135 to 150°C for 2 to 4 seconds.

The range runs from 1,000 L/h for small UHT milk brands to 5,000 L/h mid-scale and 10,000 L/h industrial. Size it against the packing line rather than raw milk supply, because a sterilizer feeding a slow filler just builds sterile product in buffer tanks. We balance sterilizer and filler rates together so neither stage starves.

Aseptic filling. UHT milk recontaminates the moment it touches an unsterile surface, so it must go into aseptic cartons or bottles, and that sterile environment has to be planned with the sterilizer, not after it. With the chain intact, expect 6 to 9 months of ambient shelf life for the packed product.

Less than the temperatures suggest. The plate exchanger recovers over 80% of the heat, with outgoing hot product pre-heating incoming raw milk, so you pay only to close the final gap up to 135-150°C. Steam is the main utility to prepare, plus cooling water for the regeneration and cooling sections. We supply the utility schedule per configuration.

Steam valves get quarterly service and seals an annual replacement, because those parts see the hardest thermal cycling. Cleaning is program-driven: full CIP compatibility plus an automatic sterilization cycle between production runs, so the machine cleans and re-sterilizes itself on schedule. Those two routines cover nearly all the service items.
