FAQ

Product is pressed between hollow aluminum plates with refrigerant circulating inside, so heat leaves by direct conduction instead of slow air contact. That is far faster than air blast for flat formats and, with no fan-driven surface drying, block quality stays high with less moisture loss. For rectangular blocks and flat packs it is the efficient route.

Flat, regular formats: fish and meat blocks, trays, and packaged product in vacuum bags or film, up to about 100mm thickness. Thickness is the hard limit, since the plates close onto a defined spacing. Irregular or bulky shapes need air freezing instead. If your program is block-and-tray led, plate contact is the natural fit, and we confirm formats against the plate spec.

A typical 50mm block freezes in 90 to 180 minutes, far faster than air blast on the same block. Batches run 100 to 1,000 kg across the range, in 5, 10, or 20 plate layers. Because the machine is batch, daily capacity is batch size times cycles per day, and staggering cycles keeps product flowing. We plan the cycle schedule against your intake peaks.

Yes, vacuum bags and film packs freeze by contact through the packaging, and plate pressure keeps the pack face flat against the cold surface, which transfers heat better than an air gap. Output is squarer blocks that stack cleanly in cold storage. Confirm the packaging is rated for plate pressure and low temperature. We verify pack format during specification.

A monthly hydraulic system check, since plate pressure is what guarantees contact and therefore freeze time, plus an annual inspection of plate surfaces for corrosion or damage that would break contact. Anodized aluminum plates are the food-grade standard and stand up to routine washdown. Plate flatness is the thing to protect: a dented plate freezes slowly from then on.
