Typical values — each model is configured to your product, cut size, and line speed.
Continuous lines freezing packaged and unpackaged product through a tunnel. For the full range, see the processing hub.
Belt width, from 600 to 2,000mm, follows your product footprint across the belt with spacing left for airflow. Length follows dwell time: faster lines need more meters of belt to hold product in the cold zone, and tunnels run from 10 to 35 meters. Capacity spans 500 to 8,000 kg/h. Give us products, freeze times, and rate, and width and length fall out of the calculation.
Plan on 10 to 40 minutes depending on product thickness and density, adjusted through belt speed. Whole birds, meat blocks, and bulky prepared meals sit at the long end; portioned pieces and bakery at the short end. The variable-speed belt lets one tunnel serve several products from stored setpoints. We verify dwell per product at commissioning with core temperature checks.
Liquid nitrogen or CO2 injection drops the zone toward -60°C for surface crust freezing, which suits delicate or high-value pieces that mark in air blast. Some plants keep cryo as a boost stage at the infeed, gaining crust quality without full cryogenic running cost. It is an available option on the tunnel range, and we size injection around your peak products.
Fans and refrigeration dominate consumption. Variable-speed fans and automatic defrost trim energy around 20 to 30% against older fixed-speed designs, because fans run at what the load needs rather than full power constantly. Auto defrost also protects evaporator capacity. We provide the power and consumption figures for your configuration so running cost can be modeled against your tariff.
Evaporators defrost automatically on schedule, with coil sections arranged so defrost cycles stagger and the tunnel keeps freezing through them. Monthly checks confirm the sequence is clearing fully, because frost build-up insulates the coil and stretches freeze times. A biannual belt inspection rounds out the plan. The line keeps running through defrost.
