FAQ

Glass, stone, bone, calcified fragments, dense rubber and plastic, and PTFE pieces, in addition to all metals. It works by density contrast rather than magnetism, so it inspects inside the product, including foil packaging where a metal detector is blind. For plants with glass-break history or bone risk in the product, that coverage gap is the reason to move to X-ray.

The machine is a shielded cabinet with interlocked doors that cut the source when opened, and leakage measured at 10cm from the cabinet sits well below accepted safety limits. Operators need no special licensing in most jurisdictions, though local rules vary and should be checked. The interlock and shield integrity are verified at annual service. It is built for a shop-floor environment.

The software learns each product’s normal X-ray signature and flags density deviations from that learned baseline, so natural variation in shape or topping does not trigger false rejects. New products are taught in a short commissioning run. The result is detection of a stone inside a mixed meal, not just obvious surface items. Recipes are stored per product and recalled at changeover.

The larger models scan up to four lanes simultaneously and attribute each reject to its lane, so one machine covers a multi-lane wrapper. Belt speed range is 5 to 50 m/min. Flagged packs are ejected by pusher or air blast into a secured bin while the lane keeps running. The reject image is stored with the event, so you can see what was actually found.

Test pieces in glass, stainless steel, and bone surrogate are run to your HACCP protocol, and the system logs every test and every reject with its image. That gives auditors a traceable, image-backed record rather than a signature on a sheet. Monthly source checks and an annual belt and shield inspection form the maintenance core.
