Auxiliary systems — steam, compressed air, water treatment, CIP, and cold storage — rarely headline a quotation, but they decide whether a food plant runs at 85% or 60% uptime. Esper sizes and integrates all five.
| System | What It Feeds | Sizing Rule of Thumb |
|---|---|---|
| Steam boiler (STM) | Cookers, sterilizers, CIP heat | Sum all steam consumers × 1.25 diversity factor; prefer biomass where fuel exists on site |
| Air compressor (oil-free) | Valves, actuators, pneumatic fillers | Peak CFM × 1.2; oil-free Class 0 for direct product contact |
| Water treatment (RO) | Boiler feed, CIP final rinse, product water | Conductivity per use: boiler <10 μS, product water potable + mineral spec |
| CIP skid (CIP) | Every wet line | Recovery tank ≥2× largest circuit volume; spray coverage validated per tank |
| Cold storage (CLD) | Raw materials, WIP, finished goods | Product load + infiltration + 15% future headroom; −18°C frozen / 0–4°C chilled |
The classic failure mode: production equipment quoted at nominal capacity, utilities sized at average consumption. Then the sterilizer and CIP demand steam simultaneously during changeover — pressure drops, valves stall, and the ‘1,000 kg/h line’ delivers 700. We size utilities on the simultaneous peak, not the average.
Yes — integrated quoting is the point of this category: steam/air/water/CIP sized against your line’s simultaneous peak demand.
When shells, husks, or wood waste exist on site: typically 30–50% steam cost reduction vs gas in agro-processing plants.
Recovery for rinse water and caustic (60–80% reuse), single-pass final rinse for allergen-critical circuits.
Separate trains: boiler feed needs soft/RO <10 μS; product water needs potable + your mineral spec — mixing them wastes money or risks quality.
Skids 60–90 days; cold storage 45–75 days depending on panel supply.
Yes — send equipment list and steam/air consumption nameplates; we return a peak-load table with gap analysis.
